Pain d’épices (gingerbread)

This is a very simple recipe, but one that can give us a lot of play. Gingerbread can be served as a dessert, with crème anglaise or as an appetizer with a salty touch such as ham.

The ingredients are:

  • 250 gr honey
  • 10 cl milk
  • 100 gr butter
  • 200 gr flour
  • 1 huevo
  • 50 gr brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon 4-spice powder
  • 1 sachet of baking powder

To prepare it, we fill an elongated terrine mold previously prepared with butter and sprinkled with flour.

Then, bake at 180º for about 30 minutes. Be careful, it has to come out fluffy and tender.
